‘Blinky Bill’ Gets U.S. Release Via Shout! Factory

Blinky Bill: The Movie, which was produced by Studio 100’s Sydney based animation studio, Flying Bark Productions, is getting a theatrical release in North American, courtesy of Shout! Factory and 100 Film. Their rights to the film also include broadcast, video-on-demand, digital and home entertainment rights for cross-platform releases. The film will be released first in the U.K. in August and then in the U.S. in September.

The family film features the voice cast of Ryan Kwanten (True Blood), Rufus Sewell (The Man in High Castle), Toni Collette (Little Miss Sunshine), David Wenham (Lord Of The Rings), Deborah Mailman (Rabbit-Proof Fence), Richard Roxburgh (Moulin RougeMaya the Bee –  Movie), Robin McLeavy (Hell on Wheels), Barry Otto (The Great Gatsby) and Barry Humphries (Finding Nemo).

The film is about the little koala with a big imagination who is an adventurer at heart and dreams of leaving the little town of Green Patch and following in his missing father’s footsteps.

The family film was directed by Deane Taylor and co-directed by Alexs Stadermann from a script by Fin Edquist. It was produced by Barbara Stephen and executive produced by Hans Bourlon, Paul Cummins, A.K. Madhavan, Emily Price, Brian Rosen, Gert Verhulst and Jim Ballantine.
