Dale Cornelius partners with filmmakers to create unique sonic identities, crafting scores that bring stories to life. 

With over 200 hours of music across 76 productions (IMDB), his work spans feature films, documentaries, animation, and television, demonstrating a remarkable versatility.
“For me, it’s about deeply understanding the filmmaker’s intent,” Dale explains. “I then translate that vision into a bespoke musical language, a sonic identity that captures the essence of their story. I’m passionate about collaborating from the ground up and value early involvement, shaping ideas during pre-production to sculpt a signature sound that becomes inseparable from the production’s identity.”
His score for “Till Human Voices Wake Us” (Helena Bonham Carter & Guy Pearce) earned “Critic’s Choice” for Best Australian Film Score (The Age, 2002), a testament to his early success. Since then, he’s garnered 16 nominations and awards over the last 20 years at Australia’s peer-voted national APRA Screen Music Awards, AACTA Awards (Australia’s version of the Academy Awards), and Danish Film Academy Awards, among others.
With over 3 million streams, Dale’s scores are often thematically rich and memorable, texturally diverse, containing sonic twists, and a blending of acoustic and synthetic instruments.
His work has been featured on major networks and streamers like Netflix (U.S.), BBC One, ITV, ABC Australia, PBS America, ARTE, ZDF, National Geographic, and at prestigious festivals including Sundance, Berlin, and Tribeca.
Dale is also President of the Australian Guild of Screen Composers (AGSC), championing emerging talent and diversity. He is a regular speaker at industry events and a mentor composer.
